According to National Golf Foundation research, it estimates that U.S. golf courses have collectively burned through more than six million phone hours over the past 12 months, equating to over $100 million in staff time in answering questions that are easily answered via Apps (like weather, course conditions, etc.).

Rounds Played

Rounds of golf for June — one of the most high-volume months for play — were virtually unchanged from a year ago, as the U.S. market remained slightly behind the record-setting rounds pace of 2024.

Short Courses

Did you know? Nearly 1,700 par-3 and executive courses operate in the U.S. or roughly one in every ten golf facilities in the country. Over the past 5 1/2 years, short courses (par-3 courses, in particular) –  have accounted for 37 percent of new course openings (with 60 percent of them within a higher-end private community or resort destination).

Popularity Contest

According to a YouGov.com survey, Tiger Woods remains the most famous contemporary golfer among all adults (rated by 89%), the most popular (42%), and disliked (19%). In second place is Rory McIlroy (52% fame), (33% popularity), and (5% dislike). *Rankings total more than 100%. Participants were able to select more than one player.

Podcasts

More than one-third of the U.S. population over the age of five played golf (on-course or off-course), followed golf (on television or online), read about the game, or listened to a golf-related podcast last year. This is up 45% since record-keeping began in 2016.
