LEGACY CLUB

COMING FULL CIRCLE

CABO SAN LUCAS, MEXICO: Early in his career, Eduardo Romo faced a crossroads. “I had a successful and growing architectural design firm,” said Romo. “My father was a pioneer in aviation at the Los Cabos Airport, and his reputation opened the door for me to design blueprints for its new terminal.”

At the time, the greater Cabo area was considered a fishermen’s village and a hideaway for those looking to disconnect. Little did Romo realize the future growth that was right around the corner for this quiet gem.  “I met Ken Jowdy [founder and CEO of Diamante] at the airport,” continued Romo. “At first, I thought he wanted to hire me to build his forever home along the coast.” But, Jowdy explained, he was considering purchasing a large tract of land that featured almost two miles of oceanfront on the Pacific side of Cabo. Yes, the site was stunning, but it lacked access to water and power facilities. All services would have to be built from scratch to develop the area.

Romo loved the landscape and dreamed of being involved in an ambitious project like Jowdy envisioned. “But at the time, I questioned its viability,” stated Romo.

Commitment to a Lasting Legacy

From a young age, Jowdy’s parents instilled in their five children the importance of hard work and leaving a legacy—of giving back to their communities and making things better than they found them. “My mother was a steady force while my father was involved in several business ventures around the world,” said Jowdy. “In developing this land, I feel so connected to the legacy my parents left me.”

It was also that commitment to betterment and an enduring legacy that encouraged Romo to join the project. As a Cabo native growing up, Romo camped several times a year among the massive sand dunes and beach that now frame Diamante. “When Ken told me that he felt a responsibility to the land, to leave it for future generations better than he found it, I was sold,” said Romo.

Legacy is the thread that binds every project for Jowdy. “Making something more beautiful than I found it, doing it with family and close friends I consider family, creating an environment where other families come together in a comfortable place to make memories—that’s a big reason why I do this. I love what I do,” continued Jowdy.

Bringing the Diamante project to life has been a labor of love, and not without challenges. But through perseverance and an unrelenting drive to bring it to reality, the entirety of the Diamante vision is coming to fruition. And the next phase is the most exciting yet.

“Today, with our newest golf club within Diamante—the ultra-private Legacy Club—we will be the largest golf development on the Baja Peninsula. Ken’s vision for Cabo to have a country club with owner-exclusive amenities and luxury real estate opportunities has become a reality in which we take great pride,” noted Romo.

Through devotion to the land and with respect for Cabo’s people and culture, Jowdy is proud to see Diamante continuing his family legacy.

A Tiger’s Roar in the Arroyos

Diamante offers the most complete set of amenities in Los Cabos. Owners have access to the Tiger Woods and Davis Love III courses—two championship courses with one more on the way—a Tiger Woods short course, the 14-acre practice facility, a 1.5-mile white-sand beach, a 10-acre saltwater Crystal Lagoon, a kids’ activity beach, multiple restaurants, a spa, and a sports activity center.

“I come from a family of entrepreneurs, and I love my work,” said Jowdy. For Diamante, he explained his original vision in which he “wanted to create something special, an ultra-exclusive oceanfront club with a small membership base where eighty players during the season would be a busy day.”

While macroeconomic events required a pivot to incorporate fractional ownership, Jowdy recognizes its success as the right thing to do. So positive was the transition to a timeshare model that TAFER Resorts acquired this portion of the business from Diamante in 2024. With a renewed focus on owner-exclusive amenities at Legacy Club, Legacy Golf Club, and luxury real estate offerings, owners have benefited.

“We are proud of the fact that we have been able to persevere through many challenges,” recalled Jowdy. “Throughout the process, we have always tried to dream big, have a long-term vision, and make every decision with the mind of trying to create more value for our homeowners.”

A stretch of oceanfront land will be developed for Legacy Club owners as well as access to two new owner-exclusive amenities—a Beach Club and a Sport and Wellness Club.

“Our real estate options offer customizable homesites with views of the Pacific Ocean, Legacy Golf Club, and vistas of Cabo’s famous sunsets. Owners will also have access to all of Diamante’s existing facilities as well as a lively clubhouse, fish camp, beautiful gathering areas, and a dedicated member experience team,” described Jowdy. “The new Tiger Woods-designed course required 3.5 million cubic meters of earth to be moved to create lush vegetation with five lakes and a stream system. It truly transports you to an oasis where you feel secluded and focused on the golf experience.”

The First Shovel in the Ground

When Jowdy set out to build the first course, his friend Davis Love III was the obvious choice to bring his vision of a world-renowned golf course to Diamante. “If you are looking for true oceanfront golf, look no further than the Dunes Course. We have holes that play directly onto the beach with views of the expansive Pacific Ocean. We are very proud of the work Davis and his team did for us when there was nothing else here,” praised Jowdy.

Upon opening, Dunes Course was lauded with awards, and Ken turned his attention to the second course. “A friend who was working with us made the introduction to Tiger Woods and his team,” continued Jowdy. “We spent several months combing over the site, discussing what was best for us and for them and really getting to know each other as people.” This was an important decision and relationship for both Jowdy and Woods. Over time, Jowdy became friends with TGR Design President Bryon Bell, Woods, and members of the TGR team. They ultimately constructed the long-term relationship that thrives today.

After much discussion and negotiation, a long-term deal was finalized to open the first-ever Tiger Woods course design, El Cardonal, Tiger’s championship course at Diamante. Following El Cardonal, Tiger and his team designed the Oasis Short Course.

“We have a great relationship with Tiger, Bryon, and the entire TGR team. They take great pride in their work and are the best in the industry. I’m proud to say our business partnership has grown stronger over the years, and I look forward to continuing to work with them in the future,” stated Jowdy.

The partnership is creating more magic with the third championship course, Legacy Golf Club, opening in late 2026. This culmination of Jowdy’s vision will deliver the most exclusive experience. With only 250 families, members receive highly personalized service, a vertical membership, no tee times, and a setting where everything is handled so members focus only on enjoying the game and spending time with those who matter most.

“I’ve always believed great service trumps great amenities,” concluded Jowdy. “If you can deliver both, you have created the magic formula for success. That’s what we’ve strived to accomplish at Diamante, and we are trying to elevate even further at Legacy Club.”

All of this success is credited to dedicated employees and supportive owners who believe in what Jowdy is creating. “When I look around at the beauty of Cabo and everything we’ve built at Diamante, of all those things, I think the thing I am most proud of is our First Tee program,” said Jowdy. “It was started through the generosity and commitment of homeowners Jim and Ginny Panoff and is fully supported by our great ownership at Diamante. When Jim and Ginny established a First Tee chapter, our members lined up to write checks to launch the program that exclusively caters to the children of staff on our property. That speaks volumes to the community we’ve created and the members who have made it what it is,” Jowdy warmly noted.

“I care for this land, the people who made Diamante their home, and the people who work hard to make it possible every day,” concludes Jowdy. “My goal is to do everything possible to make you feel that buying at Diamante is one of the best decisions you will ever make. It’s an axiom that will serve us well.”
