The Delta Airlines story began in 1925 as Huff Daland Dusters, the world’s first aerial crop-dusting company, later evolving into Delta Air Service.

Tariffs in Golf

With tariffs in the news…Did you know?  The U.S. imports nearly a fifth of its food supply from abroad, and the average American household spends nearly 14% of its annual budget on food and beverages.

Golf’s Participation

A record 3.4 million Americans played golf for the first time in 2023 (last year available). The golf industry had had 10 straight years with more than two million beginners. The previous record high was 2.4 million (back in 2000) at the height of “Tiger mania.”

Daylight Savings

A survey to the NGCOA (National Golf Course Owners Association) revealed a majority of its membership favors making Daylight Savings Time (DST) permanent. Roughly 66% of its members are in favor of permanent DST, 25% prefer the status quo, and 9% were undecided.

Earnings at Callaway Golf

In February 1992, Callaway Golf went public with its shares priced at $20 each. The shares opened at $36 each. Today they trade around $7. In 2021, Callaway Golf purchased Topgolf. Most Wall Street analysts now consider it a strategic mistake. One analyst has a sell rating estimating its fair value at $2 per share. Callaway Golf reported a mixed earnings report. Later this year, Callaway Golf and Topgolf will split into separate operating companies.
