For years the importance of clubhouse locker rooms has declined. Many clubs are converting a section of their lockers into a bar that can generate revenue. Research shows 58% of golfers visited the course directly from home (up from 51% in 2019).
Length of Stay
As golf courses continue to position themselves as destinations beyond just on-course golf – from practice and retail offerings to additional amenities and broader food & beverage offerings – the average length of stay has jumped 28% compared to six years ago (pre-Covid) according to National Golf Foundation research.
Rounds Played in 2025
According the National Golf Foundation, rounds played in July (the highest-volume month for play of the year), were up 2.6% on a national level. Through seven months, 2025 is almost on the same pace as last year’s record-setting U.S. rounds trajectory.
Inefficiencies in Golf
According to National Golf Foundation research, it estimates that U.S. golf courses have collectively burned through more than six million phone hours over the past 12 months, equating to over $100 million in staff time in answering questions that are easily answered via Apps (like weather, course conditions, etc.).
