There are more than 140 new courses in planning or under construction across the country – the majority of those tied to private destination clubs, high-end real estate communities, and resort properties – with 37% located in just three states (Florida, Texas, and South Carolina).

Boom/Bust in Golf

According to the National Golf Foundation. Since 2022 there’s actually been a net gain in the number of facilities (+6) and golf courses (+17). How does this compare to other boom/bust cycles? During the 1990s residential golf boom: +3,399 facilities (1990-2004). Post-Great Recession supply correction: -2,033 facilities (2009-2022).

I’ll Have a Double!

There have been a record number of rounds of golf at U.S. golf facilities in 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025. Last year finished 1.2% ahead of 2024’s record total. Time to pop the champagne cork!

Counterfeit Golf Clubs

Last month, the U.S. Golf Manufacturers Anti-Counterfeiting Working Group (known as The Golf Group), coordinated four criminal raids in China and seized more than 105,000 pieces of counterfeit golf equipment. Since 2004, The Golf Group (comprised of most major brands) has seized more than three million fake golf products.
